Our Story

My husband and I love being outdoors. Whether we’re boating, SXS riding, camping, or just enjoying an adventure outside, we like to stay busy—and I almost always have a hat on.

And if you’re a hat person, you know that a favorite hat isn’t just a hat. Maybe it represents your favorite team, came from a special vacation, or you bought it simply because it was cool or cute. Either way, you don’t want to lose it!

Catcha Cap was born on a windy day at Lake Havasu.

I had purchased a hat I absolutely loved from the Ghost Mine Saloon on the lake. On our way back to the marina, a crazy windstorm came up. I was holding onto my hat, but I took my hand down for just a moment—and there it went. Off my head and into the lake!

When you're cruising across a windy lake at 30 miles an hour, you don't exactly turn the boat around to search for a hat. So, sadly, that one was gone.

The next day I asked my husband to take me back to the Ghost Mine so I could buy the same hat again.

You would think I would have learned my lesson.

Nope.

On the ride back, I LOST THE SAME HAT AGAIN!

I was so dang mad at myself. But I also thought, What’s the point of having a cute hat if you can’t wear it?

On the way back to the marina, I decided I was going to buy a hat saver. I searched online. Nothing that worked the way I wanted. I checked gift shops. Still nothing.

So I decided to make one myself.

After several prototypes and some testing, Catcha Cap Hat Saver was born.

And yes—I asked my husband to take me back to the Ghost Mine so I could buy that hat for the third time.

This time I attached my Catcha Cap.

On the boat ride back, my hat blew off my head more than once—but it didn't disappear into the lake. Catcha Cap caught it every time. I simply put my hat back on my head and SMILED BIG.

And Then Came Catcha Cap Kids

The idea for Catcha Cap Kids came during a family boating trip.

I had given my adult nieces Catcha Caps to try for the day and asked them to give me their feedback. By the end of the day, they all said their Catcha Caps had saved their hats more than once.

One of my nieces has four-year-old twins who almost always wear hats in the sun. Little Ellie’s hat kept blowing off that day. They managed to catch it several times, but we knew eventually their luck was going to run out.

That got me thinking.

Kids wear hats everywhere—amusement parks, baseball games, swimming, camping, boating, vacations and everyday adventures. And as every parent knows, little kids have a special talent for losing things that aren't attached!

So I created a fun, simple Catcha Cap designed especially for kids.

Same simple goal:

NO MORE LOST HATS!
